Successful web development means the incorporation of all the web elements that are crucial for its success. What are those elements? This blog will tell it all.

For a small business, having a website is crucial to establish itself in the market. However, it has been revealed that nearly a majority of small businesses don’t own it. Hence, they face some serious troubles, such as:

  • Small businesses cannot reach their target audience. Why? 2 out of 5 people will never consider looking at a business if it does not have a website.

  • A company will lose 60% of its revenue in the absence of a web page.

  • Having a littered website is worse than not having a website.

But why do business owners refrain from having a website? There are a lot of reasons for that. First, they don’t know about components that will create a professional-looking website. Therefore, they think that hiring a web development company will be a costly and time-consuming affair.

However, if a business owner can learn about the basic components, they can have a rough idea of how the website will look. And they can tell their idea to web designers who will create the layout for developers to work upon. Here are some of the components that would make a website work exceptionally well.

1. Navigation bar

For this, you will have to think like a web visitor yourself. What would you like on a website? Of course, an easy-to-navigate website, with a spectacular navigation bar. What are the key points to remember with this element?

  • It should be visible on every page of a website, not just the home page (preferably at the top). Websites can also choose to implement a sticky navigation bar on it.

  • The navigation bar must allow people to reach different web pages methodically and without any hassle.

  • The navigation bar should have a clickable logo, and upon clicking on it, people should be redirected to the home page.

  • This bar must work on both large and small screens (smartphones and other hand-held devices).

2. Business-centric design

This is actually a no-brainer; the website must represent the business efficiently. An event management company's website will not look similar to a restaurant's website, no way! What makes a web design great?

  • Don’t focus on visual elements that are too in-the-face. Instead, developers should create an exemplary user experience (UX), and UI (user interface).

  • Using too many visual elements can decrease the loading speed of the website.

  • People might also give their attention to unimportant elements rather than the whole website, which is not what a business wants.

  • If a business wants to succeed, it must have a responsive or mobile-friendly website.

  • The overall UX must be user-friendly and intuitive, with less clutter and without information overload.

  • A website should have appropriate call-to-action buttons. These buttons, as you have guessed, will prompt people to take action, such as "Call Us", "Shop Now", or "Visit Us".

3. Contact information

A business website should have its contact information visible on all pages of a website. It should contain the business's name, physical location, and email addresses, and phone numbers. For more visitors, a company can provide links to social media accounts. Aside from that, a website should have:

  • A separate Contact Us page, which will be accessed from the navigation bar.

  • All contact information must be placed at the footer; alternatively, the phone number can be placed at the top.

4. About Us page

The About Us page allows companies to tell a story to their customers. Also, people can learn about a company’s vision and mission from this page. The story should feel authentic, realistic, and encourage customers to establish a personal connection with the company. Only authentic images should be used; otherwise, all the effort will fail.

5. Blog page

This is the page where a company can truly express its knowledge. If it contains well-written articles on a particular niche, it will act as a trust factor; these articles can play a crucial role in creating its online presence, brand awareness, and visibility.

Also, it would encourage people to engage with the website effectively. Some crucial points to remember:

  • All the blogs should be listed chronologically in the main blog post page. There must be a filter which can be used to filter the relevant blogs.

  • Each blog must have a comments section, and it must have a featured image. These blogs must have buttons to share them on different social media pages.

  • People should be able to see which blog has been shared and by how many people.

  • Consistency should be maintained on this page, in terms of fonts, images and other visual aesthetics.

Aside from these five, some other web elements are crucial as well.

6. Social Proof

The website must be credible and must have a trust factor. A web and app development company will place some reviews, client testimonials, accreditations, to show that the website is, indeed, trustworthy.

7. CMS (Content Management System)

The content management system (CMS) can help a business owner manage the website efficiently without hassle. Only the experts can pick the right CMS to customize the website of a particular website.

8. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) fundamentals

The website's overall design will be SEO-friendly to get the right amount of traffic on the internet. It must come up in search results against a specific keyword. So, it is essential to get in touch with a company whose developers are aware of SEO fundamentals.

9. SSL certificate

The website must have an SSL certificate; otherwise, it will lose the majority of web visitors. Google will show the website as "Not Secure", and urging people to go "Back to Safety”. So, people will not explore the website, and its ranking will come crashing down. It’s safe to say that not having an SSL certificate can hurt a business a lot.

10. Analytics

Analytics will allow businesses to see how the website is faring in the real world. It will show the source of traffic, conversion rate, and how long they stay on the website. Upon studying analytics, executives can make appropriate decisions.

These are things a business owner should remember before approaching a web development company.
